Created in the name of long-time friend and supporter, World Championship kickboxer Mark Selbee, who lost his life during a tragic boating accident in May, the Mark Selbee Memorial Scholarship will provide scholarships to college students with disabilities.

 

Mark was very special to us.

 

He was introduced to us by his wife Amy nearly 10 years ago, as we prepared for our FIRST Celebrity Wheelchair Basketball Jam. He was our FIRST able-bodied celebrity to commit, and before moving with his family to Kansas a few years ago to pursue his career in sales & marketing, Mark played in EVERY Jam. We looked forward to him playing. He was energetic, TRIED to be a team-player, and didn’t mind looking foolish for the cause; as a matter of fact, we had a running joke between us, that he did not make a basket until his THIRD YEAR.

 

But Mark did more than play……he helped recruit celebs every year, he developed relationships with the other players and our kids, and he and Amy were instrumental in getting nearly $10,000 donated to our organization. Because of his dedication, he was awarded our first Volunteer of the Year award. We loved & appreciated him, and in his honor, we will award our first scholarship in his name in 2016.
